Frequently Asked Questions

Why was the Diversity Council started? Who started it?
SCS Superintendent, Dr. Ryba started the Council in March 2020, as he saw the growing diversity of the District and knew the importance and the strength in working collaboratively to ensure all students in the District felt valued, accepted, and heard - that they felt that they belonged to SCS. As the research supports, student success academically, athletically, or in the arts starts with their social emotional well-being and sense of belonging.

Who is on the Diversity Council?
The Diversity Council is made up of Strongsville City Schools staff and secondary students, as well as Strongsville City Schools parents and Strongsville community members.  All of these members have independently chosen to be on this Council and participate in this work. Everyone that is a part of the Strongsville City School District and the Strongsville community is welcome to join the Diversity Council on an annual basis.

The focus is to engage the larger community of the Strongsville School District in providing feedback and guidance with regard to the District's strategic plan related to the student experience.  If you want to learn more about our strategic plan, please access the link under the 'Find It Fast' menu on the District's website.
